Introducing… Dave B

Hello, I feel it important that we both get better aquainted before I proceed with any subsequent postings. I mean, you don’t know me, I don’t know you, I’m not that type of guy and look, it would just be weird. I’m Dave (sometimes referred to as Daithí, sometimes Dave B, David when I’m in trouble) and I slot into the role of Junior Designer here at Grafton Media.
I’m a recent graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology concluding my course last May and graduating in September with a BA in Design – Visual Communications in my clutches. I was fortunate enough to secure a job at the same time I finished (well, I started two weeks prior to final submissions – ill advised), so while all my college colleagues fled to Australia and Canada and America, *sigh*, I decided to stay behind and get some experience in the creative Industry. A year on and I’ve been fortuitous to work with clients such as Pfizer, Carlton Hotels and Clerys to name a few. Despite fearing I may have lost my soul to internships along the way I gained a substantial amount of experience dealing both with clients and the profession itself.
Growing up I always had an affinity with stuff that looked cool or interesting. So I decided to delve deeper into my fascination and study design. Over my four year course in D.I.T. I got to fly to New York to view the 2008 Armory Show (I also got dance with Agyness Deyn, albeit at a terrifying basement party), partake on a two week excursion to Morocco as well as visiting Shanghai twice, the latter to create an exhibition for the Irish Pavillion as part of the 2010 World’s Fair.
I started here in Grafton Media at the beginning of March and continue to work with a variety of clients as well as growing as a designer.
So, now that you know me. . . tell me something about yourself *listens*. Great. Best friends.
