Grafton Media’s Midweek Medley – 01 August 2012

It’s time for Grafton Media‘s Midweek Medley! This weeks videos mostly brought to you by…
The Olympics!
… well, what were you expecting?
Channel 4 Paralympics – Meet The Superhumans
With the Olympics in full swing on BBC many may not have realised that the UK’s other public service tv channel, Channel 4, are broadcasting the Paralympics, starting 29th August. To the pumping strains of Public Enemy’s “Harder Than You Think.”, they highlight the athletes in this excellent promo for their coverage. Their YouTube channel also plays host to their Meet The Paralympian series.
USA Olympics Swimming Team… Call Me Maybe?
We were hardly going to ignore the biggest viral video of the Games so far.
On the eve of the Opening Ceremony the USA Swim Team released their lip dub version of the Carly Rae Jespen’s Call Me Maybe. This Olympics has been dubbed the Social Olympics by some, with athletes being encouraged to share their experiences online, and this is probably the best example of a team taking it to heart. The video sees the team dancing through the aisle of a plane, singing on the bus and of course, messing about in the pool.
The Canadian popstar infectious hit of the summer has spawned a huge number of parodies, covers and lip dubs. With Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Cookie Monster and even Barack Obama (kind of) getting in on the action.
Happiest Olympic Worker 2012
What can I say, I LOL’d. “Happiest Olympic Worker”, Rachel Onasanwo welcomes visitors to the London 2012 Olympic Games with typical British humour. She’s got over 1.1 million views now so I think it’s safe to say her mom has heard about the video by now!
What have been your videos of the week?
