An Hobad Nó Anonn agus Ar Ais Arís

Tá oíche ollmhór á reachtáil ag An Siopa Leabhar an Luain seo chugainn nuair a mhórsheolfar an Siopa ath-chóirithe mar aon leis an chéad leagan Ghaeilge riamh de ‘The Hobbit’ le JRR Tolkien.

Aistruithe go níos mó ná 50 teanga ónar foilsíodh an leabhair don chéad uair, is í An Hobad ná ceann de na leabhair fantaise is mó le rá ariamh in aon teanga, agus le leagan úr-nua á réiteach don scáláin ag Peter Jackson, tá Alan Titley agus Nicholas Williams i ndiadh deis a chur ar fail do Gaelgóirí de chuile aois-ghrúpa an scéal cailiúil a ath-mhaireachtáil inár dteanga dúchais, a buíochas le Evertype i gCathair na Mart, Chontae  Maigh Eó.

Beidh Grafton Media ann ar an oíche, agus is cúis ríméide dúinne a nochtadh go mbeidh muid ag déanamh taifead ar an sár-ócáid seo ionas gur tig lenar chairde, idir Gaelgóirí agus Béarlóirí, í a roinnt, ‘s páirt a ghlacadh in oíche stáiriúl i saol liteartha na teanga.

There promises to be a great evening next Monday when The Siopa Leabhar launches its newly re-furbished premises to co-incide with the publication of the first ever Irish language edition of JRR Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit, or There And Back Again’.

Translated into more than 50 languages since it’s first publication, ‘The Hobbit’ is one of the most famous fantasy novels ever, in any of them, and with Peter Jackson preparing a brand new version for our cinema screens, Alan Titley and Nicholas Williams have given Irish-speakers of all ages an opportunity to immerse themselves in this much loved story and relive it’s exciting plot through their native language, with thanks to Evertype in Westport, Co. Mayo.
